Nile University of Nigeria celebrates further entrepreneurship excellence from its students
1 July 2023 – The 3rd edition of Nile University’s renowned innovation and entrepreneurship competition, StartUp 3.0, was held on campus to support student entrepreneurs and connect them with opportunities for growth. The competition enables students to showcase their skills and talents to a larger audience and increase their confidence to take the next step in the future of entrepreneurship and in their professional lives.
Out of a total of 75 startup entries, 25 business ideas by the enterprising young minds of Nile University were selected to pitch their ideas to industry professionals and judges in the various categories for the finals. Among the judges were Dr. Lanre Phillips from HP Central Africa and Ahmad Muhammad Bature from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), who both expressed their admiration for the level of innovation and creativity among the contestants.
At the end of the event, three start-ups CosumerWatch, SmartHome Solution, and FataDessert in the categories of Ideation, Prototype, and Growth were declared winners and took home monetary prizes, travel opportunities, and further support from a range of partners and stakeholders.
Nile University continues to develop entrepreneurial talent to unlock the growth and empowerment of its graduates and communities. Through continuous collaboration with other member institutions within the Honoris United Universities network, Nile developed the Honoris Collective Lab Nigeria, an entrepreneurship and innovation incubator that has proven success supporting hundreds of ventures in Tunisia, specifically developed to support local entrepreneurial activities in Nigeria.
