Africa is the youngest continent in the world, with 60% of its 1.25 billion population under the age of 25. It is estimated that by 2050, the continent’s population will double and two in every five children in the world will be born in Africa – meaning more than a quarter of the world’s population will be in Africa
The increase in human-machine interaction of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is creating new types of jobs and demanding a unique combination of “digital” and “human” skills in the modern workplace. This is characterized by massive disruptions and rapid breakthroughs in technology-related fields. More than 130 million new jobs will likely emerge across the globe before 2030, which will require a set of soft and technical skills which are currently unmet by the traditional education models in place.
