Honoris leaders contribute to IFC’s critical discussions on employability and gender equity

4 July 2024 – Members of the Honoris United Universities pan-African network were glad to contribute to two recent discussions led by private sector specialist IFC.

Firstly, the ‘Roundtable on Employability in Tunisia’ was held at the World Bank in Tunis. Public and private sector higher education institutions collaborated to discuss strategies to support employability for Tunisian graduates, such as leveraging AI and technology in education, fostering employer partnerships, and promoting work-integrated learning.

Among the speakers, Houbeb Ajmi, MD of Université Centrale Group, Lamjed Bettaieb, Deputy GM of ESPRIT Group, and Dr. Grace Nkansa, Senior Director of Employability and Partnerships at Honoris contributed to the two-day agenda to share the learnings and success of the Honoris approach across Africa, including its critical focus on gender equity in employability.

Secondly, in a live webinar Red & Yellow MD, Verusha Maharaj, spoke alongside IFC and the Mangosuthu University of Technology on the critical need for higher education institutions to tackle gender gaps, covering the topics of:

  • Insights on gender gaps in education and employment
  • Gender-based challenges faced by students
  • What education institutions can do to close this gender gap
  • Initiatives implemented by Private and Public Institutions
