ESPRIT students take first place at the Generative AI for Africa Hackathon in Addis Ababa
13 November 2023 – Africa to Silicon Valley (A2SV) Generative AI for Africa Hackathon Grand Finale concluded in Addis Ababa last week, with a team of students from Tunisia’s ESPRIT taking first place and $10,000 for their work entitled ‘The Siblings’.
Having made it past 3, 700 applications across 47 African countries, ESPRIT’s team was invited to the event as part of 8 finalists.
The ceremony kicked off with an inspiring opening speech by the Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abebe, and warmly welcomed the event, emphasizing the importance of providing tech education and opportunities for students across Africa.
A2SV upskills high-potential university students, connects them with opportunities at top tech companies around the world, and creates digital solutions to urgent problems in their home countries. The program is free for students, making the opportunity available for youth who have talent but lack the means to use it.
