Tech-enabled Systems
Key discussions and presentations at this year’s summit cemented that embracing technology can transform education, making it accessible, personalised, and responsive to learners’ needs.
Another key theme of this year’s Honoris Academic Summit is tech-enabled systems. The future of education is increasingly intertwined with technology, and a tech-enabled system holds the promise of unlocking new possibilities and transforming traditional educational models.
The summit’s discussions on tech-enabled systems shed light on the profound impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in revolutionising and personalising education. AI tools, such as text-to-image and AI avatars, have emerged as powerful resources that offer unprecedented opportunities for delivering personalised learning experiences. Lecturers now have the ability to tailor content to the specific needs and preferences of individual students, enhancing engagement and knowledge retention.
By harnessing the potential of AI, we can create truly interactive learning environments that go beyond traditional methods. AI-powered visual aids and audio aids can enhance understanding and comprehension, making complex concepts more accessible and engaging for learners. Moreover, AI’s capabilities extend to grading assistance, providing efficient and consistent assessment processes that save educators valuable time and effort.
Furthermore, virtual worlds such as the Metaverse are revolutionising education by making it more engaging and tangible through digital twins, holograms, and Metaverse universities. These innovative technologies allow students to experience immersive educational experiences while retaining knowledge better with the help of AI algorithms. Finally, evaluation of simulation facilitators is improved through meta-analysis and new strategies implemented in recent years. All of these examples demonstrate how tech enabled systems have the potential to transform the way we learn.
The emergence of virtual worlds, like the Metaverse, have ushered in a revolution in education by introducing captivating and tangible experiences through the use of digital twins, holograms, and Metaverse universities. These groundbreaking technologies enable students to immerse themselves in interactive educational environments, where they can actively engage with the subject matter. With the aid of AI algorithms, students can better retain knowledge and deepen their understanding.
In addition, the evaluation of simulation facilitators has been enhanced through meta-analysis and the implementation of novel strategies in recent years. These advancements ensure that the effectiveness and impact of simulation-based learning experiences are rigorously assessed and optimised, enabling continuous improvement in educational methodologies.
During the summit, Ms. Meriem Somai, CDIO at Université Centrale, presented a compelling case study on the integration of chatbots in higher education, using ChatGPT as an example. This enlightening session delved into the development of Université Centrale’s bespoke chatbot, Najeh. Najeh has proven to be a valuable asset, offering a range of language learning tools, syllabus outlines, grade reviews, and more. The session also addressed common concerns related to AI adoption in higher education, including the provision of adequate training for both teachers and students, as well as measures to detect and mitigate any potential misuse of AI tools. The successful adoption of Najeh is evident, with a remarkable satisfaction rate of 90% and an exceptional recommendation rate of 100%.
Tech-enabled systems have the potential to revolutionise education by providing personalised and adaptive learning experiences, facilitating remote and flexible learning, promoting engagement and interactivity, automating administrative tasks, enabling data-driven decision-making, and expanding access to education. By embracing technology, education can become more accessible, personalised, and responsive to the needs of learners, paving the way for a more dynamic and innovative educational landscape.
