Regent Business School Introduces SA’s First Business Intelligence Accounting Degree

southafricatoday.net – December 4, 2025 – Regent Business School has introduced a BCom in Accounting (Business Intelligence), positioning itself as the first South African business school to offer this specialised degree pathway. The three-year programme, launching in 2026, is designed to equip mid-tier accounting and finance professionals with the digital and analytical capabilities that industry leaders now consider indispensable.

The qualification responds directly to a rapidly changing financial landscape where traditional accounting expertise alone is no longer sufficient. With businesses across all sectors demanding professionals who can bridge operational and strategic management functions, the programme develops students who are as comfortable with data analytics and contemporary accounting software as they are with financial statements and audit procedures.

“The future of accounting hinges on professionals who can leverage technology for data analysis and strategic decision-making”, says Zahraa Paruk-Abdulla, Academic Head of School of Finance and Accounting at Regent Business School and a qualified CA(SA). “Industry entities and professional bodies have made it clear: digital acumen and business intelligence competencies are no longer optional. They are among the most sought-after skills in graduates today. This programme ensures our students enter the workforce not just qualified but prepared for the realities of modern finance.”
