Nile University of Nigeria student becomes the first African to win IEEE Computer Society & Upsilon Pi Epsilon Scholarship

6 February 2026 – Nile University of Nigeria, a proud member of Honoris United Universities, celebrates Abdulrahman Adedayo Akintunde as the first student from an African institution to win the IEEE Computer Society & Upsilon Pi Epsilon Scholarship since its inception in 1999.

This distinction recognizes outstanding academic performance, leadership, and extracurricular impact. Abdulrahman’s contributions as organizer and leader of several major conferences, as well as his efforts to mobilize peers to participate in the IEEE Xtreme global coding competition, where his team ranked 2nd in Nigeria, enabled him to stand out.
