Honoris member institution, Ecole Marocaine des Sciences de l’Ingénieur (EMSI), brought home two gold medals at the 47th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, held this last April. They won gold for their SmarTraffic innovation, which optimizes city traffic flow intelligently, and for Smarty Factory 4.0, a multi-industry communication device for data acquisition. This was the opening statement made by South Africa’s Honourable Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, in an interview conducted during National Book week in 2016. The Department of Basic Education launched the “read to lead” campaign in 2015, after shocking statistics by the National Education and Evaluation Development Unit revealed that 58% of Grade 4 learners could not read for meaning, while 29% were completely illiterate. South Africa is a country that has 11 official languages, and only 9.6% of the population is fluent in English.Details
MANCOSA hosted its second graduation ceremony of the year at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban. A total of 1,366 graduates from South Africa and SADC countries received recognition for their achievements. This brought the total number of graduates produced by MANCOSA for 2017 to 2,490.
